Settling In

We took one last picture in our empty house as we were walking out the door carrying the last of the boxes.

Seven and a half hours later we were pulling in to our new home: North Beach, Corpus Christi

We spent our first full day (which was Mother's Day) exploring the area right around us and swimming. North Beach has a 2 mile long beach walk perfect for running or for walking to nearby restaurants, the USS Lexington or The Texas Aquarium. At one end is a park that we have been walking to so the kids can play. Yesterday Taylor skated the whole way there and then we took our shoes off and walked back along the edge of the water picking up various "treasures" along the way. While we were there, I met another mom who happened to also be named  Jennifer, had 2 daughters and was pregnant with her third, and was traveling along with her husband who works for an oil company. I was happy about this because I had told the kids that we are going to learn to be aggressive at making friends!

Getting the girls to get their school work done is easy when I'm able to lure them with swimming in the pool or a walk on the beach after school is over.

One of our first priorities was to locate the nearest library, acquire library cards and make friends with the lovely ladies that work there. Here, Addi and Alyssa are signing their names to the back of their cards. Taylor's life is complete here in Corpus Christi now that she has found the "Hank the Cowdog" section in the library.
